Professional Work > Scientific Illustration and Nature Journaling

Every weekend, Amy draws and paints around the San Francisco Bay area--at the ocean cliffs, in redwood forests, in botanical gardens, aquariums, and natural history collections. Amy loves doing both detailed, scientific illustrations based on museum specimens, and more sketchy nature-journaling and observation outdoors. Amy studied under two scientific illustrators at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago: Olivia Petrides and Peggy Macnamara. When she worked at The Field Museum, she had the privilege of touring the behind-the-scenes collections regularly and often sketched and painted the world class taxidermy on display.
